Vulnerability to Resilience (V2R) Project
BDRCS implemented Vulnerability to Resilience Project (V2R) and introduced in March, 2015 with the funding cooperation of British Red Cross covering 30 communities of Kurigram districts comprising 19 Unions of 04 Upazilas (Kurigram, Rajar hat, Ulipur and Fulbari) where about 1 lac people of 20 thousand families are being benefitted by getting sanitary facilities, safe drinking water, cleanliness, aware about disaster risk reduction. Each of the 30 communities include 600-700 families. The project addresses the social needs and safety of highly vulnerable individuals, primarily concerned with women, children, elderly people and people with disability, and or highly threatened by natural disasters.

- Disaster Risk reduction (DRR).
- Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
- Organisational Development & Advocacy.
Achievements:
- A Community Disaster Management Centre (CDMC) committee comprises of 16 members and a Community Disaster Response Team (CDRT) committee of 25 members have been constructed for each of the 30 communities as part of disaster risk reduction (DRR).
- Necessary kits and training like ToT on PHAST (Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation), training on Water Point Caretaker & Maintenance Group, School Sanitation and Hygiene Education (SSHE), Basic First Aid training, Rescue training,training on Early Warning have been provided for the skill development of the groups
- 30 toilets and 90 tube wells with disaster resilient raised platform have been installed in 30 schools.
- 35 WASH blocks in those schools are under construction which will facilitate students with disabilities and female students.
- 23000 people are now getting arsenic tested safe drinking water even at time of flood. 8000 ring slabs latrine set and about BDT 2,40,00,000 (BDT 3000/family) has been distributed through V2R project with the supervision of Unit staff committee.
