Secretary General of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Kazi Shofiqul Azam has said, “As we approach severe cyclonic storm MOCHA, the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is working tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of those in Cox’s Bazar, the camps, and Saint Martin. With over 4500 active volunteers trained in emergency response, and 76 thousand Cyclone Preparedness Programme (CPP) volunteers, we are well-prepared to respond before, during, and after the cyclone.
Our teams are working in close coordination with Government, IFRC and other partners to ensure a timely and effective response. We are closely monitoring the situation and have pre-positioned relief items to be able to respond quickly. BDRCS stands ready to provide life-saving support to those affected by the cyclone and we are committed to working with our partners to ensure that the most vulnerable are protected.”
