Volunteer Investment and Value Audit (VIVA) 2014

The Volunteer Investment and Value Audit (VIVA) model has been developed to highlight the economic value of volunteers work through assessing the total value of volunteering by considering the total cost the National Society spends on its volunteers vis-a-vis the total economic value of the services they have rendered. Therefore, this study has been carried out on Bangladesh Red Crescent Youth Volunteers’ response to people affected by Rana Plaza Building Collapse in Savar, Bangladesh. The study highlighted the heroic role played by the volunteers in saving lives through their timely and skillful response in one of the history’s worst disaster and how well they were appreciated by the people they have helped as well as the equivalent economic value of the volunteering services they have rendered.
