Between early morning and noon on 5 October 2025, a series of short-lived but powerful tornadoes swept across several districts of Rangpur Division notably Rangpur (Gangachara upazila), Lalmonirhat (Kaliganj upazila), Nilphamari (Kishoreganj upazila) and Thakurgaon (Baliadangi upazila). These events occurred amid continuous heavy rainfall and strong gusty winds associated with a low-pressure system over northern Bangladesh and adjoining Indian states. The combined impact has resulted in the destruction or damage of approximately 2,000 houses, injury to around 100 people and uprooting of thousands of trees, causing extensive damage to shelter, local infrastructure, and standing crops in multiple unions.
