PMO Operational Update June 2025

The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and nine partner Red Cross and Red Crescent (RCRC) National Societies, has been carrying out the Population Movement Operation (PMO) in Cox’s Bazar.
Through PMO, BDRCS has been providing critical humanitarian support to both displaced populations in the camps and affected host communities’ people. Around 1.2 million displaced Myanmar individuals currently staying in 33 camps in Cox’s Bazar who are relying entirely on humanitarian assistance for their basic needs.
However, global funding for humanitarian operations continues to shrink. As of mid-2025, the Joint Response Plan (JRP) is only 21.7% funded, resulting in a significant shortfall of USD 176 million needed to sustain essential, life-saving support in Cox’s Bazar.
An urgent additional USD 84 million is required to respond to the needs of 150,000 newly arrived refugees not included in the original plan, prompting the launch of a flash appeal. In addition, the overall security situation remains unstable across the 33 camps and surrounding host communities.
Despite these constraints, BDRCS reached approximately 193,463 individuals in June 2025, including 137,869 camp settings and 55,594 host community members, through interventions in Healthcare including Clinical Healthcare Services, Community-based Health & First Aid (CBHFA) and Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) , Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Disaster & Climate Risk Management (DCRM), Shelter, and Livelihoods, etc.
Besides above, the Protection, Gender and Inclusion (PGI) and Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) teams have been actively ensuring protection, inclusion and community engagement and accountability through meaningful participation throughout all program activities.
