Monsoon Situation Update ( Sep’24)

According to synoptic report published by Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the well-marked low over southeastern part of Bangladesh and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal intensified into a Depression, then land Deep Depression over Jashore and adjoining area at 09 AM today (14 September 2024). It is likely to move northwestwards further. As Monsoon is active over Bangladesh, all maritime ports including Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Pyra have been advised to keep hoisted Local Cautionary Signal 3 (Three). Overall situation in Cox’s Bazar
Since the evening of 12 September to evening 13 September, the whole Cox’s Bazar district has been battered by heavy downpour of rains where it experienced 436 mm rainfall and caused significant inundation in most parts of the district as well as landslide incidents especially in the hilly parts. The rainfall faced by Cox’s Bazar Sadar within 24 hours is almost similar to the 24 June 2015 rainfall of 467 mm as stated by BMD-Cox’s Bazar office.
