Kalshi Fire Incident-Rapid Assessment Report

The assessment was conducted jointly by the BDRCS Disaster Response Department and National Headquarters (NHQ) Red Crescent Youth (RCY) volunteers, in close coordination with affected community members, local authorities, and other relevant stakeholders. The report provides an overview of the incident, presents the key assessment findings and identified humanitarian needs, and outlines the immediate response actions planned by BDRCS to support the affected households.

As part of the immediate response, BDRCS plans to provide emergency non-food item (NFI) assistance to approximately 250–300 affected households this afternoon. The distribution is expected to commence at 1:30 PM at Kalshi Square, Mirpur, utilizing relief items mobilized from the BDRCS Disaster Preparedness (DP) stock. Subject to availability of resources, replenishment support from IFRC and Partner National Societies (PNSs) will be sought to restore the emergency stock capacity.

The Hon’ble Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, and Director, Disaster Response Department, are expected to visit the distribution site at their convenience. We would be delighted if representatives from IFRC and Partner National Societies could also join the event in solidarity with the affected communities and witness the humanitarian assistance being provided to the fire-affected families.
