IFRC President Visits Cox’s Bazar Camps

“On June 3rd, 2024, Kate Forbes, the President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies recieved a warm welcome by the Red Crescent Youth volunteers and all movement partners of BDRCS in Cox’s Bazar. The Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society(BDRCS) Prof. Dr. M. U. Kabir Chowdhury and Vice President Lutfur Rahman Chowdhury were present during the reception.
The visiting IFRC President toured a photo exhibition at the PMO office, which featured PMO sector-based activity photos along with drawings, and handicrafts created by the FDMN community. In the evening, they attended a dinner with government officials, Red Cross and Red Crescent partners, and other stakeholders.
On June 4th, the IFRC President, along with the BDRCS Chairman and other high officials, visited several camps in Cox’s Bazar. She observed the conditions of displaced people and BDRCS interventions in health, shelter, water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), protection, gender, and inclusion (PGI), and other areas. She also interacted with some of the beneficiaries and camp volunteers.
Later in the afternoon, she visited the Cox’s Bazar Unit office, where she met the Unit Chairman, Executive Committee Members, and Volunteers. She also enjoyed a cultural event there”
