Air Commodore Shahe Alam, a distinguished retired officer of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF), brings over 3 decades of exceptional leadership and operational expertise. He joined the BAF in 1980 and served until his retirement in 2012, holding a variety of command, staff, and instructional roles at Air Headquarters, multiple air bases, and operational units. Throughout his career, he played key leadership roles, including as a fighter pilot and in senior administrative positions. His contributions extended beyond the Air Force to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), where he served as Member (Operations and Plans), and as a faculty member at the National Defense College (NDC) in Mirpur. A dedicated humanitarian, Air Commodore Shahe was actively involved in disaster management and relief operations during major natural disasters, including those in 1988, 1991, and 2009.
His international service includes a year-long mission with the United Nations in Bosnia-Herzegovina (1994-1995), where he served as a Team Leader and Military Observer, providing humanitarian assistance and support for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. In addition to his military and humanitarian roles, Air Commodore Shah held academic leadership positions, including serving as a Senate and Syndicate Member at the Bangladesh University of Professionals. He also guided senior officers from both the military and civil services in their research at the National Defense College. After retiring in 2012, Air Commodore Shah obtained a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and served as CEO of a commercial pilot training academy for three years. He remains active in social work and is currently serving as the elected Vice-Chairman, RAOWA and Treasurer of Mirpur DOHS Porishod in Dhaka. Outside of his professional life, Air Commodore Shah is an avid golfer and a member of Kurmitola Golf Club, Dhaka Club Limited, and RAOWA. He is also a life member of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society. His leadership, service, and passion for community engagement continue to define his distinguished career and personal interests.
