PMO Operational Update Nov’25

During November 2025, security conditions in Cox’s Bazar remained highly unstable, with 144 incidents recorded across camps, host communities, and Bangladesh – Myanmar border areas, marked by shootings, abductions, fires, targeted killings, and widespread drug and arms trafficking. Despite intensified intervention of law-enforcement agencies, including the seizure of over 2.2 million Yaba tablets, weapons, and stolen goods, organised criminal networks and armed group rivalries continued to undermine safety in the camps. Host communities also faced rising political agitation ahead of national elections, alongside persistent human trafficking and smuggling. Along the border, tensions escalated due to landmine incidents, repeated abductions of Bangladeshi fishermen by the Arakan Army, and spillover effects of conflict in Myanmar, highlighting sustained cross-border insecurity despite ongoing enforcement efforts by the Border Guard Bangladesh.
