Professor Dr. Md Habibe Millat, MP, Vice Chairman

Professor Dr. Md Habibe Millat, MP, Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh RC is designated as Governing Board Member for the IFRC. He is also a member of Global Steering Committee for the One Billion Coalition for Resilience.

His humanitarian journey started as a Volunteer of Irish Red Cross in 2004, later he became a life member of the Bangladesh Red Crescent in 2010. Since then he served in the different leadership position in local, national and international bodies within the RCRC movement.

Prof. Dr. Millat was also elected as President of the Health Committee for the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in 2017. Earlier, he served for three years as a member of IPU’s advisory committee. He is a lawmaker of Bangladesh Parliament. As a Member of the Parliament, he is also a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Social Welfare and Bangladesh Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development.

He obtained his MBBS degree from the Mymensingh Medical College in Bangladesh and FRCS degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, UK. He also trained in Advanced Cardiothoracic Surgery Europe’s leading hospitals and in Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. He has a number of scientific articles were also published in international medical Journals.

Prof. Dr. Millat has also been involved in numerous national and international organizations including SAARC Medical Research Committee, Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Sandhani National Eye Donation Society, Ansary Foundation.

He speaks English. He is married with two sons.
